PRG Seeks to:

 1. Highlight and share knowledge of the County’s rich rural heritage and historical roots.

2. Build a stronger and more connected community of citizens by networking and sharing                                       information on options for the future of rural areas.

3. Care for rural land and natural areas, through volunteer work and educational training,                          including by native planting, controlling spread of invasive species, maintaining trails, reducing erosion, and clearing roadside trash.

4. Support property owners to preserve their undeveloped areas, such as through conservation easements.

5. Ensure that developers’ proposals are consistent with Greene County’s established policies and priorities for preserving our rural areas.

Preserve Rural Greene (PRG) was established in 2024 to bring together – and give voice to – the many citizens of Greene County and to preserve our county’s rural spaces and natural beauty.

PRG welcomes new members as well as any ideas, initiatives, and approaches to help all celebrate, protect, preserve, and enjoy the rural, and natural features that give Greene County its unique character and beauty!
